Please read the following to see some of the many things that the Hendersonville
Church of Christ is involved in. Please join us in some of these activities.

We Support Southeastern Children’s Home

Southeastern Children's Home

Change for Children
Each year church members are encouraged to take cans home and use them to collect their change. The cans are collected in the church foyer and donated to the Southeastern Children’s Home. For the year 2007 the project extended from August 19 through November and collected over $2000.

Southeastern Children’s Home Auction
The 16th Annual Charity Auction was held on Saturday, September 22nd in the annex building of the Central Church of Christ in Spartanburg, SC. The auction was designed to help meet the needs of children by donating items for the auction.

Bi-Annual Bar-B-Q Barbecue
On June 2nd, 2007 our Bi-Annual Bar-B-Q and Blue Grass Benefit Dinner was held to raise money for the Southeastern Children’s Home.

Growth Groups

Bible Study Group

Small groups meet at volunteer homes in the Hendersonville area on the first three Sundays of the month to study God’s word in a friendly and non-threatening environment – the home. The focus
on growth speaks to our primary task of sharing the greatest gift of all, God’s saving message with others. The chief purpose of the groups is outreach but they are also a source of spiritual growth. On occasion the groups visit nursing and retirement homes to sing songs, play games with and just visit patients and retirees. Weekly class material is provided based on Dan Williams“Growing Together Verse by Verse.” Prior to study time fellowship and a meal is shared from food brought by the participants. For those who choose, services are also held at the church building on Sunday evenings. For more information on the study material visit http://www.yourchurchcangrow.com/

The series for the year 2007 was entitled “In the Beginning” which took us back to the first book of the Bible, Genesis. Several questions were considered such as: Does God exist? If God exists,
does He care about me” If God cares about me, what does He want from me?

Information is available in the church foyer if you are interested in
joining a small group or just ask a member. The photo above is of the Teel/Audia group.

Pathfinders

Food Distribution by Pathfinders

Pathfinders is a group of senior (usually) members of the Hendersonville Church of Christ who are able to meet together periodically during the work week. Several purposes of this organization are to: serve God and our fellow man, promote personal spiritual growth among our members, take the lead in supporting the church’s primary mission (community and worldwide outreach) and encourage fellowship with one another through group social interaction. Our goal in all that we do is to honor and glorify Jesus Christ! Pathfinders not only meets your social needs (dinging out, trips and parties) but it also feeds your spiritual needs with Bible study, prayer and your need to do good works (benevolence, projects such as harvest gathering and meals for the church). The photo above was taken prior to Thanksgiving of 2007 and is of the food collected for needy families in the Hendersonville area.

Harvest Sunday
One clear way to express our thankfulness is to share the bounty that God has given us. Each year church members bring groceries to share with disadvantaged families in the area. The Pathfinders group meets prior to each Thanksgiving to pack these groceries in boxes and deliver
them to the disadvantaged families. As a result of their work and the generosity of many, this year 71 families received food items to make this Thanksgiving a blessed one.

Valentine Banquet
“Father Knows Best” or so a 50’s sitcom suggested. We say today: “Our Seniors Know Best.” That is, no one knows better than them about the value of love and affection in marriage. So they put on a Valentine Day’s banquet. A large group enjoyed a meal and thoughtful time together. There is so much that we all can learn from these wise Christians.

Lifeline Screening
On August 17, 2007 the Hendersonville Church of Christ provided preventative health screenings to our members as well as the community. Using ultrasound, the performed tests for stroke/carotid artery blockage, abdominal aortic aneurysm, peripheral arterial disease and osteoporosis risk. The screening tests are designed to alert people before symptoms appear. This year seventy-nine people attended, of which 49 were from our neighborhood families.

Red Cross Blood Drive
Our annual Red Cross Blood Drive was held May 1, 2007 in the church annex.

Haiti Clothing Drive
When Tim Mastenbrook came he impressed us with how poor our brothers and sisters in Haiti are; many don’t even have a shirt on their back, and we have all these clothes in our closets. A list of needed items and boxes were provided for church members. On October 14 the boxes
were collected and sorted by the Pathfinders and then shipped off to Haiti.
