Red Cross Blood Drive
Our annual Red Cross Blood Drive, sponsored by the Pathfinders, was held May 1, 2007 in the church annex. See photo above.

Harvest Sunday
One clear way to express our thankfulness is to share the bounty that God has given us. Each year church members bring groceries to share with disadvantaged families in the area. The Pathfinders group meets prior to each Thanksgiving to pack these groceries in boxes and deliver them to the disadvantaged families. As a result of their work and the generosity of many, this year 71 families received food items to make this Thanksgiving a blessed one.

Lifeline Screening
On August 17, 2007 the Hendersonville Church of Christ provided preventative health screenings to our members as well as the community. Using ultrasound, the performed tests for stroke/carotid artery blockage, abdominal aortic aneurysm, peripheral arterial disease and osteoporosis risk. The screening tests are designed to alert people before symptoms appear. This year seventy-nine people attended, of which 49 were from our neighborhood families.

Dave Ramsey’s “Financial Peace University”
Thirty four people signed up for this video and discussion driven course. We looked at investing from a different perspective. Investing for retirement is very important. However, the focus of this seminar was on investing in the spiritual things and not putting too much emphasis on nvesting in monetary things. It was exciting to think of the many ways God used this course to further His Kingdom. Those who took the class were empowered and motivated to take control of their most powerful wealth building tool, their income. They walked away with a better understanding of God’s plan for handling money. We prayed that marriages were strengthened and that lives were changed.

Understanding Your Muslim Neighbor, a Seminar With Dr. Everett Huffard
The seminar, held on April 15, 2007, helped us in understanding our Muslim neighbors so that we might better interact with those in this important world religion. The lessons included “What Muslims Struggle to Understand About Christianity,” “We Have Seen His Glory” and “What Christians Struggle to Understand About Islam.”

Financial Retirement Seminar with William Tucker and Scott Saunders, CFP
This was a seminar for the Boomer generation, those born between 1946 and 1964 and included church members and our friends in the community. It was designed to minister to the needs of this generation as it quickly approaches retirement. The discussion included how to plan for one’s future retirement and was held on March 31, 2007.
