True Love
Karen Fitzpatrick and I have been teaching a class on healthy relationships. As we talk to the young people, you can't help but notice that some of them are thinking "this is way down the road for us". This may be true for some of them, but as I look back on my own life, it will be there before they realize it. As I was studying and preparing for the class, I couldn't help but think how fortunate we are not only to have God's word, but also people we can look to and see a healthy relationship.
Over the past year or two, we have seen our very own members exhibit God's word through their actions. I think of Lucille Henderson and Jean Godley showing their love and commitment to their husbands. I saw my own dad and men like Max Nigh and Gerard Ingram showing that same love and commitment to their wives. Even today we see many more who are doing the very same thing, taking their vows very seriously "through sickness and in health". What a blessing to all of us, who can see firsthand acts of true love that is spoken about in 1 Cor. 13.
Let me encourage all of you to take the time to read this passage and to thank all of those members who are currently showing this type of love and commitment and for the wonderful example they are for us.
In Christian Love,
Duncan Blake
