TRANSFORMERS!

This past Christmas I was introduced to a new toy—the TRANSFORMER. We bought one for our grandson Rick and gave it to him with the written and graphic illustrations of how to “transform” the toy. As I struggled to understand the schematic, I looked up only to find Rick already had “transformed” the shiny new car model into a fierce looking robot—in seconds!

“Transforming” is what God does! He is the ultimate “Change Agent!” Transforming is what redemption is. As the song says, “I will be changed from this creature that I am.” It is what Jesus told Nicodemus that night so long ago: “You must be changed (born again).”

But how can we be transformed? How will we ever really be better, live better, love more? Really be kind-hearted? The Apostle Paul declares, just as Jesus said to Nicodemus, that it takes a “renewal of the mind.” (Romans 12:2) What we allow into our lives is what we become (change in to). Paul then answers our question of how to achieve this transformation: We must “let the mind of Christ be in us!” (Phil. 2:5) And in that same book chapter 4 verse 8 he says, “Whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable… think on these things.”

But can I really be different? Really change from an earthly-minded person to a heavenly–minded person? The Apostle Paul, one of our best examples of a “changed creature,” tells us what happens in this remarkable “renewal of the mind” over time: as we reflect Christ and His glory, we ourselves are “changed from glory to glory.” (II Cor.3:18) A love-relationship rooted in Jesus is certain to transform us and bring us nearer to God.

Let Him lead you and guide you and, at the end, He will transform you eternally.
