Joyful Servants

We are blessed more than we know! You may be thinking I am about to talk about the silver lining to the economy or an article about how much we all have compared to the rest of the world, but you are wrong. What I want to share with each one of you is what God taught me about our young men and women last week.

On April 14 and 15, which many know was right in the middle of Henderson and Buncombe county schools spring break, 13 willing and determined teenagers joined me in Fletcher to continue the construction of four mud huts for Mission Camp in June. Now there were many other things they could have chosen to do on their spring break other than working for 5 hours in the rain on Tuesday the 14th. I am grateful and humbled by their joyful service. I did not hear the first complaint out of one of them. They were cold, wet, tired, yet eager to serve. The only reason they stopped working in the rain was because I made them. At 2 pm the rain began to fall from the sky in sheets at which point I sent them all to their homes to dry off and warm up and as impressed as I was at that point it kept getting better. Believe it or not, everyone one of them came back for more, later that night. The progress we made was tremendous. I am forever in debt to them all. Thank you guys and girls for the lessons you taught me!

Some of you may be asking, “In what ways am I being blessed by this event.” You are being blessed by reading an encouraging story that describes the heart’s of servants who will one day be leading in the church.
