Join Us Mid Week
As the new year begins and you have all your new year’s resolutions mapped out, I want to challenge you to consider this resolution for 2009. Commit to being a part of our mid-week Bible study. This Wednesday night gathering is not about getting another check for church attendance and you won’t find it as a command in the Bible to gather on Wednesdays but you will find encouragement, friendship and deeper study of God’s word.
I often look at Acts 2:42-47 and receive encouragement as I look at how the early Christians lived. One thing they did was to gather at the temple daily. It is obvious to me as I read these verses that there was nothing legalistic about their meeting together so often but that it was for encouragement and growth in Christ. Encouragement is the precise reason we gather on Wednesday evenings. We work hard at making this easy for you to be a part of by providing a meal at 6:15 prepared by
Donald Yelton to cut down on your list of things to get done after you and your family get home from school or work.
The teens are always energetic and have lots to talk about on Wednesdays and we would love to have more involved. Right now we are studying the book of Matthew and the teenagers are being challenged to read five chapters a week as we study the life of Christ. We also take a “Faith in Action” field trip one Wednesday a month to go out and encourage members of our church who are unable to get out with singing and prayer. Come join us mid week and you won’t be disappointed. May God bless us all as we seek to serve Him in 2009. — Will Tucker
