After the Cap and Gown

Have you ever wanted what is best for someone else even though it might not be the best for you? Imagine this…you drive 650 miles across the country to leave your one and only daughter among strangers…with no car…in the pouring rain…knowing she will be fine, but not so sure you will. On August 20, 2009, that is what happened at Harding University.

We have been anticipating this trip for over a year and preparing for this day since Will began instilling (or brainwashing) in our youth the importance of a Christian education. He has spent countless hours taking trips to Christian colleges to let our kids know there is a great big world out there where Christ is the center, and he wants them to take hold of the opportunity to be a part of it. For this, Will, we thank you. You are a true gift from God.

We are so proud of Taylor, and we know she will succeed. There are going to be some hard times ahead, but they are all part of growing up and developing character. James 1 tells us to consider it pure joy when you face trials because the testing of your faith develops perseverance. And perseverance must finish its work so you may be mature and complete, not lacking in anything.

So…… here we are 1 month later and Taylor is doing great, and so are we! We have been trusting in the Lord and in His mighty power. That is our strength and that is God’s promise!

Do you remember what is was like when you said goodbye to your parents as you left for college, or moved away for a job or to get married? Do you remember what it was like to graduate high school and begin a new chapter in your life? Whether you moved several states away, stayed home and went to a local school, or began working full time life was forever changed. You had new freedom, new responsibility, and many new challenges. Well, our congregation has seven who are in this stage of life. If you would like to encourage these young men and women with a letter or care package please take the time to bless and encourage them.
